The Consortium : -
- Is a voluntary partnership of basic skills public and private providers and stakeholders and operates on behalf of its members.
- Is committed to supporting basic skills development to address the aims of the Skills for Life national strategy and the Learning and Skills Council’s Literacy and Numeracy Delivery Plan for Kent and Medway.
- Is committed to the quality standards laid out in the Basic Skills Agency’s new Quality Mark framework and to the standards set out for Adult Basic Skills Provision in the DfES document Success in Adult Literacy, Numeracy and ESOL.
- Will promote and value the importance of high quality basic skills learning as part of a lifelong learning culture.
- Will respond to the needs of its members in promoting cooperation and understanding with other networks and organisations at local, regional and national levels.
Our goal is to achieve an improvement in adult basic skills levels in Kent and Medway that, by 2005, will match or better the performance of the South East Region.
The Secretariat of the Consortium comprises one full-time officer who reports to the KMBSC Steering Group.
